About Us

Our Ethos

We believe that children learn best when they are interested and have time to develop and explore. We follow their interests by asking them what they want to do every day. The staff team are trained to support children ‘In the moment’ and we have fully equipped rooms so staff can provide resources quickly capturing interests and extending learning.

Staff will note children’s interests when in play and use this information to support learning under the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines. We have chosen to follow the Development Matters framework to assess children’s knowledge, understanding and development. We focus on the three prime areas initially and believe children need these prime areas fully secured before focusing on the Specific areas of development such as Maths and Literacy.

We believe in developing a children’s creativity and curiosity and support them to be independent and self-confident. We do this by not doing things for children when they can do things for themselves.

Our Mission Statement

Here at Little Rainbows Nursery & Preschool we want all our children to grow to be excellent communicators, who are self-confident, resilient and have good self-esteem. We want to develop their creative minds to enable them to be active learners and be independent thinkers. The Early Years Foundation Stage

The early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old.

All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.

The EYFS only applies to schools and early years providers in England.
